The National Coordination Centres (NCCs), established under Regulation (EU) 2021/887 and nominated by Member States, are key national-level entities constituting the EU-wide Network supporting the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre.
NCCs act as the primary points of contact at national level for the Cybersecurity Competence Community, ensuring coordination between national stakeholders and the Competence Centre. They can contribute with expertise to the Centre’s strategic tasks, taking into account national and regional cybersecurity challenges and opportunities across sectors.
A core part of their mandate is to promote and facilitate the participation of industry, in particular SMEs and start-ups, as well as academia, research organisations and civil society, in cross-border projects and EU-funded cybersecurity actions. NCCs also provide information, technical assistance and guidance to their national stakeholders, especially during the application phase, for funding opportunities managed by the Competence Centre.
In addition, NCCs seek to create synergies with national, regional and local policies, including cybersecurity strategies, and contribute to the development of cybersecurity skills and awareness. They may receive Union funding and provide financial support to third parties, thereby strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystem and enhancing cooperation across the Union.
