The event gathered over 200 participants from Europe’s cybersecurity community and focused on current and future funding opportunities of Digital Europe Programme (DEP). Furthermore, ECCC Executive Director Luca Tagliaretti delivered a presentation about the Centre, its mission, DEP project portfolio, and the next ECCC’s steps into future.
The event opened with the introductory messages of Ramona Chiriac, Head of the European Commission Representation to Romania and Liviu Nicolescu, Secretary of State in the Romanian Government and Head of NCC-Romania, and was followed by the presentation of the ECCC Executive Director Luca Tagliaretti.
Luca Tagliaretti gave a comprehensive presentation about the Centre, focusing on its mandate, mission, objectives and future set-up; and its currently managed Digital Europe Programme (DEP) project portfolio and budget. He also covered the future of the Centre, encompassing the role of this EU body for DEP, Horizon Europe Programme, its contribution to the Security Operations Centres, its Strategic Agenda, and the role of NCCs and of the Cybersecurity Competence Community.

Afterwards, relevant presentations were given about current and future funding opportunities under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP). Francesco Barbato, Head of Sector in the European Commission, presented the DEP open call DIGITAL-ECCC-2024-DEPLOY-CYBER-06 with its dedicated budget of EUR 84 million. The DEP call covers areas of actions for deployment activities supporting novel application of AI and other enabling technologies for Security Operation Centres, the implementation of cybersecurity EU legislation such as the Cyber Resilience Act, and the European transition to post-quantum cryptography. The presentation was followed by an intervention of Felicia Cutas, Programme Officer at the ECCC, who shared “tips & tricks” on how to write a project proposal.

After the interventions of the European Commission and the ECCC, a lively session on pitching of ideas of proposals to the open Call took place.
The event continued with the workshop “Priorities for future DEP Cyber Work Programme”, where participants actively engaged into discussions and contributed with relevant suggestions and ideas on the future DEP Work Programme. The workshop was then followed by insightful presentations held by representatives of National Coordination Centres (NCCs).
Roberto Cascella, Head of Sector at ECSO, concluded the programme with a presentation on the upcoming Industrial Matchmaking event.

To sum up, the first ECCC Info Day in Bucharest has offered a platform for Europe’s cybersecurity community to gain relevant insights into current and future funding opportunities under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP), and network with other European peers.
