community day

On 20 October 2026, within the framework of the Bucharest Cybersecurity Conference, the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) organised the first European Cybersecurity Competence Community Day, an event designed to connect Community Members, National Coordination Centres (NCCs) and key actors from research, academia and industry.

The event brought together around 110 participants from over 60 companies and organisations across 24 European countries, underscoring the increasing engagement and collaborative spirit within the European Cybersecurity Competence Community.

The discussions were opened by ECCC Executive Director Luca Tagliaretti and Ivan Scannapiecoro, Head of Sector for Community and Competence, who reflected on the evolving role of the European cybersecurity ecosystem and the importance of closer cooperation across Member States. Participants also heard from National Coordination Centres, which shared national experiences, best practices and perspectives on strengthening collaboration throughout Europe.

A key feature of the programme was the opportunity for Community members to present their activities and expertise through a series of pitches, showcasing innovative projects, capabilities and ideas. The event also featured dedicated networking and matchmaking sessions, which facilitated more than 60 one-to-one meetings between participants and generated valuable connections for future collaboration.

The European Cybersecurity Competence Community plays a central role in strengthening Europe's cybersecurity leadership, enhancing competitiveness and fostering innovation across the cybersecurity ecosystem. By bringing together a diverse network of stakeholders, it helps translate expertise and knowledge into practical solutions that benefit both European industry and society.

The first Community Day in Bucharest demonstrated the strength and potential of this growing network. More importantly, it transformed discussions into concrete opportunities for future partnerships, projects and investments, helping to build a stronger, more resilient and cyber-secure Europe.
