
The event was organised under the auspices of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and in cooperation with the Irish Embassy to Romania.
Delegates received an overview of the ECCC’s contribution to enhancing Europe’s cybersecurity ecosystem and the discussions highlighted the Centre’s role in supporting cybersecurity research, innovation, deployment, and capacity building across Europe.
The event also featured contributions from industry representatives, including Patricia Shields, CEO of Cyber Cert Labs and coordinator of the ECCC-funded CRA-AI project, and Tiberiu Baraboi, CEO of Expertware and coordinator of ECCC-funded projects SIEMBIOT and aSIEMmetry, who shared their perspectives on cybersecurity innovation and the opportunities created through European collaboration.
The visit provided an opportunity for diplomatic representatives to exchange views with ECCC staff, gain a better understanding of the Centre’s activities, and discuss the importance of continued cooperation to strengthen Europe’s cybersecurity resilience and competitiveness.
Brendan Ward, Ambassador of Ireland to Romania, said: “Increasing cybersecurity and sharing our experience and expertise is vital to maintaining and increasing the competitiveness of the European Union.”
Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the ECCC, said: “Cybersecurity is a key enabler of Europe’s digital future, competitiveness and strategic autonomy. The exchange provided an opportunity to highlight the ECCC’s contribution to Europe’s cybersecurity ecosystem, demonstrate the impact of EU investment, and explore avenues for enhancing the Union’s cyber resilience and competitiveness”.
