European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) held its first Info Day in Bucharest, Romania

Today, the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) is holding its first Info Day, in Bucharest, Romania. This event opened by the introductory messages of Ms. Ramona Chiriac, Head of the Representation to Romania, European Commission, and Mr. Liviu Nicolescu, Secretary of State, Romanian Government and NCC-Romania, and was followed by the Opening remarks & presentation of the ECCC Executive Director Mr. Luca Tagliaretti.

In his speech, Mr. Tagliaretti presented the main achievements of the Centre in the implementation of the DEP Project Portfolio and outlined the future challenges stressing the key role of the Centre as Europe’s new framework to support research, innovation, and industrial policy in the area of cybersecurity.

The Info Day event aims to discuss and inform about the Digital Europe Programme (DEP), the DEP open call DIGITAL-ECCC-2024-DEPLOY-CYBER-06 with its dedicated budget of EUR 84 million. It also provides the opportunity to collect input for the future DEP Cyber Work Programme. Furthermore, other relevant sessions take place such as the Presentation of National Coordination Centres (NCCs), and the Presentation on upcoming Industrial Matchmaking events.

The strong interest across Europe for this Bucharest-edition of the ECCC Info Day is demonstrated by the very high level of attendance. More than 250 participants have registered for the event, from 23 different countries, and representing a wide spectrum of sectors and entities within the European cybersecurity landscape.

Background

The European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) aims to increase Europe’s cybersecurity capacities, innovation and competitiveness, managing funding and working with a Network of National Coordination Centres (NCCs) and the Cybersecurity Community across the EU.

The ECCC manages cybersecurity projects funded by the DIGITAL Europe and Horizon Europe, as well as Member States and other actors. The ECCC adopted in March 2023 its first strategic agenda for investment on cybersecurity, and will open its next call for proposals for EU projects on cybersecurity at the end of 2023. The ECCC, together with the NCCs Network, also supports collaboration on cybersecurity innovation and capacities between industry, public authorities, academia and other relevant cyber stakeholders.
