The ECCC hosted its first in-person Info Day in Stockholm

On 16 June, The European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) hosted its second event of the Info Day series as a physical side event to the Digital Assembly in Stockholm. The primary objective of this event series is to effectively disseminate critical information and raise awareness on present and future European calls under Horizon Europe and the Digital Europe Programme. Through these efforts, the ECCC strives to strengthen the European cybersecurity ecosystem and the European cybersecurity market by boosting financing opportunities and inspiring European stakeholders to respond successfully to these calls while fostering collaboration. Lastly, European companies get the remarkable opportunity to pitch their solutions in front of the representatives of the EU bodies responsible for funding allocation.

On 16 June, the ECCC hosted its second edition of the “Info Day” series in the form of a physical side event to the European Commission’s Digital Assembly in Stockholm, Sweden (15-16 June). Powered by the European Cybersecurity COmmunity (ECCO) project, the Info Day webinar opened with remarks from Miguel Gonzalez-Sancho (Head of Unit, DG-CNECT, European Commission), followed by an awareness-raising presentation by Francesco Barbato (Head of Sectors, DG-CNECT, European Commission).

The presentation focused on introducing the open cybersecurity-related calls of the DEP (Support for implementation of EU legislation on cybersecurity and national cybersecurity strategies, Standardisation in the area of Cybersecurity, Coordination between the cybersecurity civilian and defence spheres, Preparedness support and mutual assistance) and of Horizon Europe (Secure Computing Continuum (IoT, Edge, Cloud, Dataspaces), Privacy-preserving and identity management technologies, Security of robust AI systems). Besides conducting an in-depth review of the calls, the speakers provided comprehensive insights into the subject areas covered by these calls, along with delving into the budgetary aspects, criteria and guidelines for submitting project proposals.

After the presentation, the following cybersecurity providers were granted the opportunity to pitch their solutions and innovations in front of representatives from official European funding bodies:

Alongside engaging pitches from the above-mentioned providers, the audience actively participated in a Q&A session regarding the calls. The thought-provoking questions raised by participants, along with the informative presentations, highlighted the wealth of ideas, skills, and expertise within the European cybersecurity market. It became evident that these industry players possess capabilities to effectively meet the cybersecurity needs and demands of the European community.

To sum up, the Info Day event in Stockholm offered an intimate and workshop-like environment that provided essential information on open calls from horizon Europe and DEP for European providers to ensure successful applications to these opportunities. The event served as a platform to forge new connections, boost financing within the European cybersecurity market, and ultimately strengthen the European cybersecurity community as a whole.
